Possibly one of the most difficult tasks for anyone to maintain is taking good care of your skin on a daily basis. It’s not often that we get a chance to sit down and relax and just escape reality. So when we do encounter that short, heavenly time, being healthy is the least of our worries. There are plenty of different skincare tips but they usually are time consuming. Here we have created a list of our top 5 skin care tricks. They don’t take too much time out of your day and are very effective for your skin!

Moisturize!

If you want to feel and look super hydrated, use a humidifier. Leaving it in your room all night can show great results. To seal in moisture after a bath or shower, put on a layer of oil and/or lotion quickly after getting out. This seals in all the moisture from your bath, and will leave your skin feeling super hydrated.

 

Sleep

Depending on your age, sex and metabolism, you will need anywhere from 8-10 hours of sleep a night, generally. It is important to keep a fairly set sleep schedule, which will regulate your circadian rhythms and give you the optimum quality of sleep your body needs to function at its best level.

 

Nutrition

You are what you eat! Aim for a balanced diet of protein, grains, fruits, veggies, healthy fats, and remember: it’s ok to indulge in the occasion piece of dark chocolate. Red wine is chock full of resveratrol, which has been proven to lower the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and protect skin against aging. A glass of red wine a day keeps the doctor and plastic surgeon away!

 

Exercise

Not only is exercise great for your metabolism and confidence, but getting in a workout on the regular will give you a fantastic glow. Aim for at least 30 minutes a day 5 days a week. Also, try to combine strength training and cardio for the optimum balance. Yoga is great because it includes both, with the added benefit of mind/body awareness and peace inducing shavasana pose!

 

Sunscreen

If you’re not wearing it, you’re hurting your skin! You should put on sunscreen at least 30 minutes before heading out into direct sunlight to block harmful UVA/UVB rays. Use SPF 30 or better to prevent skin cancer and wrinkles. Your future self will thank you!
