Hollywood stars and starlets have been known to have “secret” beauty and skin care tips that sound unreal or just outright ridiculous. Especially with modern trends, there aren’t much “secrets” anymore. Just gossip and rumors about Botox and surgeries in which most cases, it’s probably true. Old fashioned skin care tricks seem to have either been lost in history or practiced within select house holds who care about their skin and do their research.
We have been able to uncover some of history’s best skin care and beauty tricks that aren’t ridiculous or dangerous. If practiced correctly, you could have an edge in your skin care routine that almost nobody else knows about.
4 Old Fashioned Skin Care Tricks
Miss Jessica Harlow is an experienced beauty and makeup artist and she shares each of these tips in detail in one of her videos:
Shaving The Face
Celebrities in the past like Marilyn Monroe used to shave their facial hairs with a special razor. The trick is to remove all of the “peach fuzz” to give the skin a more smooth look and feel. This allows for better reflection which gives the skin a more smooth and firm look. By the way, everyone has “peach fuzz” on their face. Shaving off the “peach fuzz” also gives a better surface for applying foundation.
“Ice Facial”
The “ice facial” isn’t as bad as it may sound. The trick with this is to apply cold water to your face/skin after you are finished washing and exfoliating. Joan Crawford used this trick in a very specific 25 facials. Cold water causes the pores in our skin to close up making the skin tighter and firmer. This also helps with acne because closed pores don’t allow for dirt to get in.
Removing The Hairline
Rita Hayworth was an actress who removed her hairline to make her face look more proportional. Another reason for removing the hairline is that it cleans up the little baby strands of hairs. This gives the face a bit more of a polished and cleaned up look
Surgical Tape
There were several actresses back in the day who used to use surgical tape to tighten their face. After tightening their face with surgical tape they would use a wig to hide the tape, giving them a tighter and firmer look without the evidence.
There is a similar trick that Miss Jessica Harlow reveals that she uses personally instead of surgical tape at the end of her video. Check it out:
